POSITION INFORMATION: Full-time Permanent Support Staff Position Opportunity Payband: J; Starting Rate: $41.12; Four Year Rate: $47.67 Department: AV Services Hours: 35 hours per week (1) one hour lunch; Mon - Fri 8:30 am - 4:30pm Reporting To: Manager, AV Services Campus Location: Oshawa
This position will be responsible for customized design and implementation of a variety of complex AV control and monitoring systems for teaching spaces and other venues across all campuses of both institutions. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that all AV hardware devices within an AV control system communicate with each other properly and allows for remote access of devices as they relate to functionality. This position requires a strong, up-to-date understanding of audio and video signals, both analog & digital, and how they are processed in today's AV systems.
A key aspect of the position is the ability to work independently and managing tasks to completion. The incumbent will provide Level III campus wide support of networked AV control systems, interfacing AV hardware and remote access devices as they relate to AV equipment functionality, security status and preventative maintenance.
As well, the position provides AV service and support in response to service desk calls that require resolution and assists with AV events as required.

3. Required to hold a current CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) certification. Added professional certifications strongly preferred include: InfoComm Certified Technology Specialist-Design (CTS-D), InfoComm Certified Technology Specialist-Installation (CTS-I), CompTIA A+ Certified Professional-IT Technician, Crestron/Extron certifications, Networking certifications.
4. Extensive knowledge and experience with operation programming and repair i.e. (to the component level) of data/video projectors, touch panels/touch screens, AV switchers, AV processors and audio amplifiers. 5. Demonstrate ability to conceptualize overall AV system layout, select and assemble appropriate AV hardware devices, create logic code and implement. 6. Ability to troubleshoot AV equipment and existing AV control system malfunctions and repair as required and experience working with specific AV manufacturers and their programming languages/protocols (example: Crestron, Extron, Kramer, other). 7. Familiar with RS-232 and HDBaseTcommunication standards/protocols, digital video signals/protocols, wiring standards, twisted pair, and fiber optic send/receive signal extension devices. 8.
