Job Description

We are seeking an Azure Cloud Architect to support a federal agency in Washington, DC. The architect will be responsible for designing, planning, managing, supporting, and overseeing the Azure PaaS/IaaS environment, ensuring secure, scalable, and efficient cloud solutions aligned with the agency's mission.

Clearance: Must be able to attain Public Trust.

Hybrid Work Schedule: Onsite three days per week at our 12th Street DC Office.

Job Duties:

1. Design and architect Azure PaaS/IaaS environments based on business and technical requirements.
2. Create architectural deliverables, provide guidance, and implement solutions leveraging Azure expertise.
3. Make architectural decisions, evaluate options, and recommend optimal cloud solutions.
4. Build reference applications demonstrating elasticity, fault tolerance, and event-driven architecture.
5. Conduct proof-of-concept prototypes to evaluate cloud feasibility and validate architectures.
6. Design secure networking solutions, including NSGs, VPCs, subnets, VPNs, and firewalls.
7. Implement IAM, encryption, and governance frameworks complying with standards like NIST and FedRAMP.
8. Utilize CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Bicep), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
9. Design cost-effective architectures using reserved instances, autoscaling, and cloud financial management tools.
10. Develop transition strategies for seamless cloud adoption and anticipate architectural changes.
11. Identify and resolve cloud infrastructure challenges while balancing risks and rewards.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in Azure design, support, and management within large organizations.
• 15+ years of overall IT experience including system architecture and enterprise solutions.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure or similar cloud platforms.
• Expertise in virtual application delivery technologies.
• Experience managing Linux, UNIX, and Windows environments.
• Support and documentation skills for build and configuration changes.
• Strong understanding of system architecture and management tools.
• Experience with large, complex enterprise systems deployment and support.

Knowledge of Azure cost management tools to optimize cloud spending is preferred.
