Job Description

We are recruiting for a high level Safety Manager to oversee safety performance at various client sites in the America Region. This role ensures consistent implementation of safety standards and its deliverables, as well as assurance activities across multiple countries, terminals, and projects.

The position will manage a team of safety professionals across the region, providing leadership, coordination, and oversight, while working closely with client stakeholders and Arteak’s global program management team.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Leadership & Management

• Serve as the single point of accountability for Regional Safety Program delivery in the Americas region.
• Manage and coordinate a team of safety professionals (Cluster PMOs, Safety Leads, Supervisors, and Advisors) across multiple sites.
• Ensure team performance, accountability, and alignment with program expectations.
• Cascade global communications, standards, and strategies into the Americas region.
• Act as the focal point for reporting, monitoring KPIs, and facilitating quarterly reviews.

Program Implementation & Assurance

• Oversee implementation of the Regional Safety Guide, Peer Assist reviews, and contractor capability assessments in the region.
• Coordinate assurance programs, harmonize regional processes, and provide visibility to management on safety performance and improvement initiatives.
• Provide continuous support to sites, ensuring deliverables are met in line with client HSSE standards and local legal requirements.
• Lead training, onboarding, and continual development of regional safety staff.

Travel & Site Support

• Be present on site at least 80% of the time, supporting field operations directly.
• Travel regularly across the Americas region (US, Canada, Latin America) to supervise, coach, and align site teams.
• Provide direct coverage or oversight in the event of resource shortages at the cluster level.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Work closely with Regional Safety Leads and Regional Project Assurance Leads.
• Support front-end planning of safety resources and regional risk assessments (Heat Map).
• Drive best practice sharing, lessons learned, and cultural improvements in safety management.

Qualifications & Competencies

• 10+ years’ experience in Oil & Gas, Civil, or Construction industries, with 5+ years in a direct HSSE leadership role.
• Proven experience managing multi-country programs and diverse safety teams.
• Strong knowledge of construction safety standards, IOGP guidelines, and HSSE frameworks.
• Certification in Occupational/Workplace Health & Safety or relevant engineering discipline.
• Skilled in safety audits, competency assessments, and assurance programs.
• Strong leadership, influencing, and communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels.
• Languages:
• English – essential (oral and written).
• French – desirable, particularly for Canada-based operations.
