Job Description

About Hubexo

We provide cutting-edge data, insights, and software solutions to the global construction industry. We specialise in project information, eTendering, product information, market intelligence, and specification. We help the world build better by delivering unrivalled insights and technology that shape places where people live, work and play.

The Role

We’re hiring a Junior Specification Writer —a detail-first role where precision matters. You’ll join our technical specifications team and learn directly from a Senior Specification Writer.

This is a remote role for candidates legally entitled to work in Canada .

You’ll produce accurate, compliant specifications to CSI/CSC requirements using MasterFormat, SectionFormat, and PageFormat . Expect hands-on writing, client contact, and deadlines that sharpen your craft. The payoff is accelerated learning and exposure to Canadian and US projects.

This is what you’ll be doing

  • Draft, edit, and publish project and product specifications to CSI/CSC standards.
  • Use NBS Chorus to action client markups and version control.
  • Shadow a senior writer, then own small projects with coaching and reviews.
  • Coordinate drawings and spec content; keep everything aligned and compliant.
  • Speak with manufacturers daily; validate products and performance data.
  • Prepare fee proposals, tender packages, contracts, and procurement requirements.
  • Support Canadian delivery and our US specification services as they grow.
  • Research materials, codes, and methods; maintain technical libraries and standards.
  • Balance multiple deadlines; communicate risks early and keep stakeholders updated.
  • Typical split: ~75% spec/project work, ~25% CMS work plan .

About You

This role asks for focus, resilience, and care. You’ll juggle competing timelines and complex detail—and you’ll grow fast.

  • Architectural Technologist (or similar) post-secondary, or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of contract documents; CCDC awareness is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of MasterFormat, SectionFormat, PageFormat (or learn quickly).
  • Clear, concise written communication; strong organisation and follow-through.
  • Confident with Microsoft 365 and modern collaboration tools.
  • Eager to pursue CSP, RSW, or CCCA .

Nice to have

  • 1+ year with an architecture/engineering firm; 1+ year focused spec writing.
  • Sustainable design/LEED exposure; spec layout best practice.
  • Codes and standards familiarity; strong stakeholder communication.
  • Bonus: Revit, Vectorworks, NBS Chorus , LEED, CSC/CSI membership, bilingual English/French .

Why Hubexo

“We’re not here to coast—we’re here to challenge, grow, and build better. For our people and for our customers. That means we’ll expect a lot from you: ownership, precision, and a drive to lead by example. In return, you’ll get the space to dream big, take smart risks, and be seen, heard, and valued.”

Compensation & benefits (Canada)

  • Salary: $65,000 CAD per year.
  • Remote-first across Canada.
  • 3 weeks’ vacation , your birthday off , and a half day on Christmas Eve .
  • Comprehensive medical and benefits package.
  • Ongoing development support toward CSP/RSW/CCCA .

Eligibility & inclusion (Canada)

  • You must be legally entitled to work in Canada .
  • We welcome applications from all qualified candidates and are committed to employment equity .
  • Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in the selection process.
  • A French version of this posting is available on request. Une version française de cette offre est disponible sur demande.

At Hubexo, we are united by our vision to empower the construction industry with our innovative insights and technology. We like to dream big and thrive together. If you're ready to be part of one global team that is helping to shape the future of construction and build a better world, join us!
