Job Description

We are seeking a Lead AI/Machine Learning Engineer to architect, build, and scale our AI foundations. This role will define technical direction, mentor a growing team, and deliver advanced ML solutions—ranging from forecasting and classification models to LLM and agentic AI systems. The Lead will balance hands-on engineering with strategic vision, ensuring our AI initiatives drive measurable business impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the technical roadmap for AI/ML initiatives, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and alignment with business strategy.
  • Lead the design, training, and deployment of advanced AI/ML systems spanning LLM-based pipelines, ML-driven forecasting, classification, recommendation engines, and entity resolution/NER.
  • Build and optimize foundational data infrastructure, including cloud-native data lakes, pipelines, and MLOps tooling that enable production-grade AI.
  • Mentor and guide a growing team of engineers, fostering best practices in software engineering, data engineering, and applied ML.
  • Introduce and implement AI-driven developer productivity and efficiency tools that accelerate team delivery.
  • Partner with Product, Data Science, and Business stakeholders to identify opportunities for AI to enhance decision-making, automation, and client value.
  • Act as a change agent for AI adoption, ensuring technical solutions are understood, adopted, and scaled across the organization.

Compensation & Benefits

We offer competitive compensation based on experience, education, and skill level. Full-time employees also receive:

  • Health, dental, life, and disability insurance
  • RRSP with company match
  • Paid time off and parental leave
  • Teledoc Health services
  • Employee recognition and referral bonuses

Diversity & Inclusion

At Guideline.ai, we believe diverse teams build better products and stronger companies. We’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of hands-on software engineering and machine learning experience, with at least 2+ years in a senior or lead role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Deep expertise in Python, modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, scikit-learn), and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Demonstrated hands on experience developing LLM-driven and agentic AI solutions.
  • Experience applying ML techniques to real-world problems, including time-series forecasting, clustering, classification, nearest-neighbor methods, and NLP/NER.
  • Experience building and deploying data pipelines and architectures (Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, Kafka, Airflow).
  • Strong foundations in software engineering, including CI/CD, versioning, testing, and code quality.
  • Ability to balance technical depth with business impact, aligning ML initiatives with measurable outcomes.
  • Proven experience mentoring engineers and shaping technical direction for a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
