Understanding that secure housing is essential to preventing re-exploitation, they provide emergency shelter and long-term transitional care through evidence-based, survivor-centered programming that focuses on healing, personal development, and sustainable independence.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) plays a critical role in the stabilization and mental health treatment of women residing in residential programs. This role will focus on trauma-informed psychiatric care, medication management, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive and survivor-centered care.

This clinician will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized psychiatric treatment plans, prescribing and managing psychotropic medications, and evaluating client progress. In collaboration with the Clinical Director and mental health team, the PMHNP will support each woman's healing journey through integrated, evidence-based, and trauma-informed psychiatric care.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Psychiatric Assessment & Treatment Planning

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments using DSM-5 criteria.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized psychiatric treatment plans.
  • Prescribe, manage, and monitor psychotropic medications in compliance with Colorado state laws and protocols.
  • Educate clients and staff on medication regimens, potential side effects, and expected outcomes.

Clinical Support & Trauma-Informed Care

  • Ensure all psychiatric interventions align with the six principles of trauma-informed care: safety, trustworthiness, peer support, collaboration, empowerment, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Provide crisis stabilization support and collaborate with the clinical team to develop safety plans as needed.
  • Maintain a strengths-based and survivor-centered approach, minimizing re-traumatization and promoting autonomy.

     

     

Collaboration & Continuity of Care

  • Actively participate in weekly MDT (Multidisciplinary Team) meetings and coordinate with therapists, case managers, LACs, and medical professionals to ensure cohesive treatment planning.
  • Collaborate with external providers and referral agencies to ensure consistent psychiatric care when clients transition in/out of the program.
  • Assist in establishing relationships with local healthcare providers, hospitals, and mental health networks for continuity of care and emergency response.

     

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in accordance with HIPAA, DEA, and state board regulations.
  • Track psychiatric outcomes and report on clinical indicators as requested by the Clinical Director.
  • Ensure all prescribing and clinical practices comply with Colorado Board of Nursing standards and policies.

     

     

QUALIFICATIONS & LICENSURE

 

  • Required: Active and unrestricted Colorado licensure as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
  • Required: Prescriptive authority in Colorado with current DEA license.
  • Preferred: Experience working in trauma-informed care environments, particularly with survivors of human trafficking, domestic violence, or complex trauma.
  • Strong understanding of psychopharmacology and current best practices in psychiatric treatment.
  • Skilled in collaborative care models and integrated behavioral health approaches.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work within a faith-based organization and align with HER Campaign's mission and values.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings and on-call consultation
  • Willingness to travel occasionally between location campuses across states, or to professional development events.
