The Nunavut Housing Corporation (NHC) is an agency of the Government of Nunavut which serves the housing needs of one of the fastest growing and youngest populations in Canada. NHC’s mandate is to create, co-ordinate, and administer housing programs in order to provide fair access to a range of affordable housing options to families and individuals in Nunavut. NHC has recently launched The Nunavut 3000 Strategy, () which is a collaboration between the government and its partners to deliver 3,000 new units across the housing continuum by 2030.
About the Job
Reporting to the Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of NHC, This position is in Kinngait and is responsible for the following responsibilities:
• Lead a regional team of 26 and support 13 LHOs with a combined workforce of 156.
• Oversee delivery of housing programs, contract administration, land and mortgage services, and financial accountability.
• Be responsible for overseeing support services for over 2800 Public and 398 Staff Housing Assets
• Collaborate with community leaders and organizations to ensure housing solutions reflect local needs.
• Develop and implement a district capital plan aligned with long-range corporate goals.
• Mentor and build capacity within LHOs through training, coaching, and partnership development.
• Represent NHC in community consultations and intergovernmental discussions.
• Be responsible to encourage LHO development through the delivery of Housing Programs by working with various community groups, assisting local contractors and business, working with local community development groups, and providing and coordinating training to improve the LHO’s skill base.

What You Bring
• Must have at least 4 years of experience managing all levels of staff including setting performance objectives and managing performance;
• Must possess 5 years of experience in property management, housing program management, or technical services management;
• Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration or Business Administration, or another field relevant to the position;
• Must have good leadership skills, and be adept at conflict resolution;
• Should have a general knowledge of housing construction; and
• Should have solid financial management experience and skills and have managed large budgets.
• General knowledge of housing construction and northern logistics.
• Experience working in a public sector, unionized, or cross-cultural environment is an asset.
• Knowledge of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and Nunavut communities is highly valued.
• A satisfactory Criminal Reference Check required.
